STONE CREST FARM *~* ALL ABOUT US *~* Welcome to Stone Crest Farm! We are a family owned and operated equestrian facility located in Frankfort, Kentucky. Please feel free to visit the many pages on our website to learn more about everything we have to offer. Our Services... At STONE CREST FARM, we select horses and ponies to use in our Camp and Riding Lessons program that match a certain criteria based on their temperament, conformation, and overall quality. Many of the horses and ponies are shown by our students in local shows, county fairs, and fun shows. We have many different breeds of horses and ponies available, primarily non-gaited horses (those that walk/trot/canter). Our horses are suitable for many disciplines of riding, including Hunters, Jumpers, Eventing, low-level Dressage, Foxhunting, Polo, Gymkhana and Mounted Games, Pony Club, 4-H, Western Gaming, local and rated showing, as well as quiet and sensible trail riding horses and ponies. After using the horses and ponies in our riding programs, we offer them for sale. We strive to match riders with horses and ponies that are compatible with their needs. You can go to our Sales page to see some of the horses and ponies available. Aside from the horses and ponies, we also breed and sell Border Collies and Manx cats and have several Other Animals that live on the farm. If you are looking for horsemanship or riding instruction, we offer Riding Lessons. We also run a horse Camp, which operates during Spring Break, Summer Break, and Fall Break on the Franklin County Public School schedule. We offer horse-themed Birthday Parties for the equestrian in your family. For those of you who are members of a group with an interest in horses, we also offer Group Outings & Field Trips. Training is available for horses, ponies, and mules of all skill levels, may it be an untouched horse, refreshing skills under-saddle, or re-training bad manners. We work with all breeds of horses, from Tennessee Walkers to off-the-track Thoroughbreds, to Mustangs, ponies or Miniature Horses, and even Mules and Donkeys. We have experience working with horses of many disciplines, from gaited to Western to Huntseat and everything in between. Boarding is available on a limited basis. Call or e-mail for more information on boarding with Stone Crest Farm.

We look forward to hearing from you. Our Facilites... Currently, Stone Crest Farm is run on our 10 acre home farm. Our facilities include a 9-stall barn with electricity and running water. We have a spacious tack room with saddle and bridle racks. We have an outdoor arena for teaching lessons and a round-pen for schooling horses. There are logs and simple cross-country jumps set up around our duck pond. We also have a 450 acre farm about 6 miles away that we use to grow our own hay and we also have a 50+ acre field to turn horses out in the warmer months so they can enjoy the fresh grass. Our plan is to move the entire business over to our larger farm within the next 5 years. Our History...
While still in high school, she worked for a local boarding and training stable that specialized in Tennessee Walking Horses and Rocky Mountain Horses. By her senior year, she was helping to manage the stable and was in charge of feeding and daily care of the horses. After graduation, she moved to Lexington, KY to attend the University of Kentucky. During that first year, she drove back home each weekend to work as an outrider at the Standardbred racetrack Thunder Ridge in Prestonsburg, KY where she kept "Keya" and her second horse, a Rocky Mountain Horse gelding named Mister Twister. Then in 2004, she moved her horses to a farm in Nicholasville, Kentucky. She began teaching riding lessons there, as well as working for their summer riding program. After only one year of working there, she was Head Instructor and began running the summer camp program. After two years, the number of students coming to camp and involved in the riding lesson program had tripled and there was a need to aquire more horses and ponies to use in the riding programs. So, in addition to teaching the basics of riding and horse maintenance, Jessica was also responsible for finding the appropriate horses and ponies needed for the program.
It was through the need to find safe and reliable horses and ponies to use in the summer camp program that Jessica met her future husband, Rick Lewis. Rick Lewis had always grown up with horses. For as long as he can remember his family always had a couple riding horses. And, there were a few naughty ponies that quickly taught him that when a pony took to bucking it was better to stay on than fall off. Through his youth and teenage years, he learned to ride and train horses himself, buying and selling a few to earn extra spending money.
Rick preferred gaited horses, and purchased, Carbon's Royal Allen, a triple-registered smokey black tobiano Tennessee Walking Horse stallion. "Allen" was in a class by himself, and passed on his best qualities to his offspring. Rick began a gaited horse breeding business and was successful for several years, breeding for temperament, quality and gait, rather than strictly for color. "Allen" has offspring in many US states and even in Canada. Jessica first contacted Rick about one of the horses he had available for sale. She was in need of quiet and gentle horses and ponies to use for the summer camp and riding lessons. After using the horses and ponies in the programs she offered them up for sale to the public. She found there was a great demand for horses and ponies that had proven themselves safe to be used with kids and beginners. Rick began supplying Jessica with horses to use in her riding programs.
When Rick was injured at his job in 2008 they thought their dreams were going to come crashing down. Through tenacity and hard work, Jessica now runs the summer camp and riding lesson program. There is still a demand for well-trained horses and ponies. After using them in summer camp and riding lessons these horses and ponies are offered for sale. Feel free to check out Stone Crest Farm, and browse the website pages. If you have any questions, feel free to call 502-229-9344 or e-mail horsecampusa@aol.com. We look forward to hearing from you.
